Bare Kind

Updated: Dec 24, 2018

Straws suck. In the UK we sip over 8.5 billion plastic straws a year, and they don't decompose for a very long time. Perfect for consumers and Businesses alike, Bare Kind are on a mission - a rainbow coloured mission - to decrease our usage of single-use straws, and ditch single-use plastic in general.

Want to play your part? An effective solution is to invest in a set of reusable stainless steel straws that will last you for years. Not only will this help to save our planet, but it'll also save you money too!

Bare Kind, founded by Lucy Jeffrey, is a British brand based in Birmingham.

It's a brand that is passionate about combining craftsmanship and caring for our environment in the form of reusable stainless steel straws, guaranteed to enhance your drinking experience.

Functional yet fashionable, all Bare Kind products are made from sturdy stainless steel and arrive in a neat canvas drawstring bag, keeping packaging at an absolute minimum.

These eco-friendly straws can be used in cold drinks and come in a range of sizes, colours and shapes (earning extra design points!), so you can enjoy using them no matter what glass you’re drinking from. Each set is delivered with a handy cleaning brush and they're completely dishwasher safe too!

After successfully graduating from UEA Norwich with a Biology degree in 2016, Lucy found herself on a graduate scheme with HSBC. Seeking an exciting new adventure, she went travelling around New Zealand and Australia, gaining inspiration and experience along the way.

The Bare Kind journey started on a night out; rather than use the standard plastic straws available, Lucy's friend had bought along her own stainless steel straw. A super simple, yet incredibly cool and effective, concept!

Passionate about the fight against single-use plastic, Lucy considered it to be the perfect time to hit the market; offering straws which are not only eco-friendly but that look trendy too. Keen to aptly reflect the eco-friendly nature of the brand, the name 'Bare Kind' is a combination of 'Bare' and 'Human Kind'. In a nutshell? A stylish and practical way to help save the planet.

Each Bare Kind product is 100% free of single-use plastic, and Lucy - who is a huge advocate for #SaveTheTurtles - makes it a priority to continually ensure that the packaging and shipping is as sustainable as possible. The key message being that if we are using a single-use product, either don’t use it in the first place or find an exciting alternative.

Saying no to single-use products has a significantly positive impact. Large companies and Governments can majorly influence and facilitate real change, but if the general consumer (you and me!) actively begin to make simple changes, we can have just as large an effect

Bare Kind continually inspires and enables a more consciously aware, sustainable generation. To make an easy but powerful change, get your hands on a few sets of Bare Kind stainless steel straws.
