The Harbour House Cafe is a treasure trove tucked away on the top floor of the Harbour House Centre for Arts and Yoga, effortlessly nestled between a yoga studio and an art emporium. Vibrant veggie food and proudly poured coffee is served to a steady stream of locals, tourists, regulars and yogis alike throughout the week and every Saturday.
A cosy-come-tropical, calm oasis sets the scene for help-yourself magazines, water and dog biscuits (it’s the little things!). The setting speaks for itself; clean colours injected with bursts of vibrant greenery, perfectly offset by cool grey tones. The decor is a tasteful mix of rustic charm and bohemian chic, lending itself to the light, welcoming space it’s made a home in.
The select menu charms; offering bejewelled salads, hearty veggie curry, homemade soups and wonderfully flaky filo parcels with a generous side of summery slaw. A wonderful array of cakes varying from polenta slices, passionfruit cheesecake and delicious, gluten free brownies. Much of the produce is locally sourced; always seasonal and always fresh. Each dish is home-cooked and lovingly prepared under the skilful eye of owner and masterchef Jo.
This is Kingsbridge’s answer to healthy, hearty, vegetarian fare washed down with an eclectic range of loose-leaf teas, locally sourced coffee and a carefully selected range of cold beverages. After a spot of charity shop hunting and market-meandering it’s a mere half a minute stroll from the central car park to this relaxed hideaway.
We arrived at peak time, just as lunchtime hunger was about to hit the locals, nearby office dwellers and visitors. We were welcomed by the mouthwatering aroma of oven fresh cinnamon swirls, which are a new addition to the mindfully forged menu. It came as no surprise, therefore, that every table was full with happy and content people - chatting over coffee, delving into the hand made cakes and letting the world pass by.
Boasting strong WiFi and a light, airy space Harbour House Cafe is a microcosm - a portal - into a peaceful world where you can sit, eat, sip and unwind; catch up with loved ones and work colleagues alike.
Diners can eat and chill on the glass-roofed mezzanine level and nosy at the art in the gallery below, cosy up at one of the individually adorned tables or soak up the British sun in the quaint sun-trap of a courtyard.
